FAQs

Target Audience

Mandel Jerusalem Fellows are outstanding leaders who help shape Jewish life in their communities. The program seeks talented Jewish educators, with proven leadership abilities, who are interested in effecting broader change. We also seek Jewish communal leaders of other kinds who are invested in creating profound models of engagement in Jewish life. Some of these latter might occupy senior positions in major Jewish organizations; others might be classified as entrepreneurs or innovators and work outside of established Jewish institutions.

According to this mapping, MJF candidates are those who could be placed in at least one of the intersecting areas of these circles, or whose career path shows them to be moving towards the center.

Diversity
MJF is an intentionally diverse learning community of educational leaders. The diversity of contemporary Jewish life is reflected in the composition of each annual cohort, comprising women and men from all Jewish backgrounds and with a range of professional experiences. Graduates of our programs often single out the experience of having their most fundamental conceptions and commitments challenged by fellows from other backgrounds as the most important dimension of their time at MLI.
