The Mandel Graduate Unit seeks to form long term professional partnerships with and between Graduates in order to increase their capability to create change in the educational and social fields in Israel.
The Mandel Graduate Unit's activities focus on supporting the Graduates in realizing their vision both as a community and as individuals. On the community level, the Graduate Unit aims to strengthen and deepen networking among Graduates with the goal of creating "Communities of Practice", which will have a direct, significant impact on the professional development of our Graduates and their ability to create change. On an individual level, the Graduate Unit offers tailor-made counseling, provided by a group of highly-qualified consultants in a range of fields, designed to leverage the performance and skills of the Graduates. The Graduate Unit is constantly integrating theory and practice, interweaving the development of a profound vision with its application in the fields in which the Graduates operate. The Graduate Unit emphasizes the need to rethink and regenerate the Graduates' work as well as that of the organizations which they lead.
2011 Mandel Graduate’s Conference focused on the Professional Identity of Mandel Graduates – entrepreneurs and leaders striving to transform the field of education and society in Israel and in the world. The conference provided opportunities for the continued development of the Graduates’ professional identity through reflection and the acquisition of knowledge and tools – all these in the aim of consolidation of a vision, leadership empowerment, entrepreneurship encouragement and leveraging organizational management. The conference components were designed to create an additional dimension to the professional Mandel Graduates community that focuses and operates in the educational and social fields.
Consulting and Coaching - A professional team of consultants provides on-going consulting services to Graduates. The consultation is allocated by a committee according to set criteria.
On-the-job Consultations - Graduates are offered initial consultation and support on professional challenges or dilemmas they face, by Prof. Haim Adler, during visits to their work places. Through these visits we provide Graduates with opportunities for initial consultation and support on professional challenges or dilemmas; identify needs and opportunities for collaboration with other Graduates and with MGU; collect information regarding key issues and challenges that may direct MGU's work and gather first-hand insights on the education sector in Israel, and to capture and disseminate this knowledge within the Mandel community and also within the broader community of educators in Israel and abroad.
Round Tables - formed around a burning educational or social issue, bringing together Graduates from different areas of work. Through the process Graduates, in collaboration with experts in the field, combine theory and practice to create a unique outcome. The aims of the round table are to create opportunities for research, learning and acquiring tools and professional knowledge, to advance issues on the public agenda and to situate the Mandel community as an expert and a significant factor in promoting educational and social policy.
Cohort Programs - include lectures and peer learning, which create a unique and constitutive dialogue among cohort members and a resource for professional development. The goal is to provide opportunities for investigation, learning, acquiring of tools and professional knowledge; to form a learning community and a framework for deliberation.
Peer Consultations - include think tanks comprised of Graduates regarding specific professional challenges.
Management Courses - include a wide scope of “tailor-made” management courses in collaboration with leading institutions. For example the Evaluation Course was aimed at providing evaluation tools and knowledge to Graduates to be implemented in their organizations.
Graduates Host Graduates - on a monthly basis Graduates visit other Graduate’s organizations. The aim of these visits is to provide the hosting Graduate with an opportunity to reflect on his/her vision, organization and challenges; to identify and form collaborations with other Graduates.
